Now that we are deep into spring and with summer just around the corner, the natural flora and fauna surrounding our beautiful Luxury Lodges sites has never looked better. Our idyllic resorts are all nestled within beautiful countryside, with each of the locations chosen specifically for their proximity to nature, offering convenient access to the great outdoors. Wildflowers are blooming, spring chicks are hatching and fields and forests are looking invitingly green and luscious.
When taking a stroll along the coastal paths just steps from our Cornish sites; Clowance and Bude Coastal Resort, guests are regularly treated to sightings of young dolphins frolicking in the waves off the nearby beaches such as Summerleaze Beach at Bude Coastal Resort or Godrevy Beach near Clowance.
The trees which line Clowance Resort are teeming with birdsong and provide a wonderful accompaniment to an evening spent sitting on the terrace of your lodge whilst enjoying a refreshing drink as the sun dips down below the treeline. The woodland also provides an idyllic habitat for a variety of rare Cornish flowers including Borage, Easter Lilies and Montbretia.
Clowance also boasts its own tranquil lake which serves as a popular place for guests to try and catch a glimpse of local wildlife including frogs, dragonflies and butterflies, all whilst enjoying a delicious picnic on the banks, which can be provided upon request by our onsite team.
Cornwall also offers the chance to bathe in nature due to its many rivers and crystal clear waters. It is one of the most common places in the UK to spot otters! Those guests who are patient and quiet enough to seek them out may be lucky enough to catch a sighting of these shy but playful creatures in their natural habitat.
Guests at our South Wales site, Dylan Coastal Resort, are also lucky to be nearby some of the destination’s best sites for spotting wildlife. Carmarthenshire is known for being a brilliant place to spot illusive barn owls, due to the quiet surroundings and limited light pollution in the area. Deer are also commonly spotted and can often be seen dashing across wide open fields at dawn.
The flora around Carmarthenshire is also notable with plenty of great British wildflowers illuminating the coastline with flashes of bold colour. Guests can enjoy Lily of the Valley, Southern Marsh Orchids and Dwarf Thistle flowers, just to name a few.
There truly is no better time of year to grab your walking boots and head outdoors to admire the fantastic variety of flora and fauna that can be found on our British coastlines. Our Luxury Lodges sites provide guests with the perfect base to do so and serve as an idyllic base to retreat back to after a day out exploring in the glory of the sunshine.
