Our story

Luxury Lodges was founded in 2015 to provide a solution for busy families seeking practical, but stylish, holidays in the UK.

After discovering that there was nothing in the market that met these needs, mother and entrepreneur, Sharon Hurley, was inspired to create a series of resorts that offered the one thing busy families want most - quality time together away from the stresses of everyday life. Sharon soon realised that this desire extended beyond families to professional couples and large groups of friends, and so Luxury Lodges - a collection of luxury private homes suitable for everyone from couples to groups - was born.

We now offer luxury self-catering holidays in Cornwall, the Lake District, Northumberland and Carmarthenshire. Plus, in 2021, we added the Residences to our portfolio - a collection of brand new coastal holiday homes available to purchase.

2026 is set to be our biggest year yet. With more locations than ever and a series of landmark developments across the collection, this is the Luxury Lodges Group at its most ambitious!

  1. 2015 - Luxury Lodges started.

    In 2015, the new accommodation brand, Luxury Lodges, was launched. The company began by taking over full ownership of Dylan Coastal Resort - a stunning resort overlooking the Taf Estuary in South Wales.

  2. 2016 - Luxury Lodges culture created.

    As part of the development of the Luxury Lodges brand, we created new values and an overarching vision: to deliver amazing experiences by loving what we do.

  3. 2016 - First Iconic Collection lodge completed at Clowance.

    In 2016, the first of our Iconic Collection properties - The St Austell Lodge - was built at Clowance. Today, our Iconic Collection features the most luxurious properties in our portfolio.

  4. 2016 - First Iconic Lodge at Whitbarrow.

  5. 2016 - First iconic lodge at Laugharne.

  6. 2017 - Dylan Coastal Resort Milkwood Spa construction underway.

    Renovations begin at Dylan Coastal Resort

    In 2017, work began on transforming Dylan Coastal Resort into a first-class luxury resort complete with a new state-of-the-art spa and dining facilities, and beautifully refurbished accommodation.

  7. 2017 - First iconic lodge at Burn Coastal Retreat.

    In 2017, the first of our Iconic Collection properties - The Glasshouse - was built at Burn Coastal Retreat. Today, our Iconic Collection features the most luxurious properties in our portfolio.

  8. 2018 - Cumbria self-catering accommodation of the year.

    The Farmhouse Apartments at Whitbarrow scooped the ‘Self Catering Holiday Provider of the Year’ award at the Cumbria Tourism Awards 2018.

  9. 2018 - Completion of our first Treehouse.

    In 2018, our first Treehouse was built at Clowance. Today, our Iconic Collection features the most luxurious properties in our portfolio.

  10. 2019 - MadeForMums Bronze Award.

    In 2019, we were delighted to win the Bronze Award in the Family Holiday category at the MadeForMums Awards.

  11. 2019 - Cornwall Tourism Award.

    In 2020, Burn Coastal Retreat won bronze in the Self-catering Accommodation of the Year category at the Cornwall Tourism Awards.

  12. 2020 - Completion of Milk Wood House at Dylan Coastal Resort.

    2020 saw the completion of the Milk Wood Spa and Milk Wood Bar and Kitchen at Dylan Coastal Resort as well as renovations of properties and facilities across each of our resorts.

  13. 2021 - The launch of The Residences.

    In 2021, we launched The Residences - a collection of luxury holiday homes available to purchase at Dylan Coastal Resort

  14. 2024 - Hexham Lodges becomes the newest resort within the Luxury Lodges collection.

    In 2024, Luxury Lodges added Hexham Lodges to the collection of Self-Catering resorts within the group, offering the perfect base to explore Northumberland.

  15. 2024 - The launch of The Residences at Whitbarrow.

    In 2024, the portfolio was expanded with a new development of Luxury Lodges at Whitbarrow in the Lake District

  16. 2025 - Hexham Lodges takes its place within The Residences portfolio.

    Hexham Lodges is one of our newest additions — a curated collection of luxury lodges set against the sweeping Northumberland countryside, available to purchase.

  17. 2026 - Whitbarrow Unveils a Newly-Refurbished Restaurant.

    The Fellstone Restaurant Opens at Whitbarrow.

    In 2026, the newly-refurbished Fellstone opened its doors — a lounge and restaurant named after the rugged Lake District landscape that surrounds it. The Fellstone offers laid-back bistro dining in an atmosphere that feels like it was always yours.

     

  18. 2026 - The Residences at Clowance is Launched.

    Clowance Joins the Residences Portfolio.

    2026 sees the collection reach South Cornwall, the already established luxury lodges at Clowance, are now available to purchase.

  19. 2026 - Exciting New Update Coming To Dylan Coastal Resort.

    Something extraordinary is coming to Dylan Coastal Resort.
